Dear Honeck Family: I am truly sorry to hear of your sudden loss. Although I did not know Mr. Honeck, I understand the grief and sorrow that you and your family are feeling at this very difficult time (I also have lost members of my family unexpectedly). My desire at this time is that all of you may find a measure of comfort. In God's Word, the Bible, at John 5:25,28, it tells us of the wonderful promise of a future resurrection for our loved ones sleeping in death. Also the 37th Psalm, verses 11 and 29, tells us where Our Creator says this happy reunion will take place. Please, take a few moments to read of those promises in your copy of the Bible. May I assure you, I am not trying to give or change your religion. The pain of loss is felt, regardless of religion. My sincere condolences to all of you. (Philippians 4:6,7)

Brenda, Megan, Kate and Liam,
I have no words to describe how sorry I am for John's passing. Like everyone else, I am just trying to wrap my head around this, and feel completely helpless on what to say or do for all of you.
John was one of a kind, and I do not recall knowing anyone with as much integrity. I learned so much from him over the years as a coworker and friend. His presence will be with everyone he touched always, which I hope will comfort you somehow.
No doubt you are all loved deeply, and I hope someday you find some peace through all this love and support from people around you.
Please take care, take one day at a time, and sometimes, one hour at a time
Much love to you
Stacy

I am deeply saddened that a man as full of life, as wholesome, and as vibrant as John, has suddenly passed away. His fullness of life, his love of family and friends, and the deep respect he had for his fellow man, were all deeply woven into the fabric of his life. He lived each and every moment to the fullest, and, he surely deserves God's greatest reward in Heaven. To use the word John used in greeting us all from time to time, It is most appropriate, and I am compelled to bid farewell to such a good man, much the same. Farewell John, and in your eternity,......Peace.

I have known the Snook-Honeck family since we were young kids! When John and Brenda got together, John introduced us all to the movie Clockwork Orange! From that day on, I knew he was someone different and special! LOL He will truly be missed but the memories he gave us all will never leave and a lot of them were inspiring, insightful, funny, and loving! Again, God is taking one of the best for his own! May He love him as much as we did!

To all who knew & loved John. I am so very sorry for your loss. Growing up, I always enjoyed John's spunky spirit. When I found him again on Facebook years later, it was a joy to see how he had not lost that spunk, but had a focus for that energy- to help others <3. I will miss John as he would always say PEACE. Which I truly hope he has found.

Condolences to all of John's family....
...His wife whom he loved deeply, his three children, his brother and father, and to those of us who John touched with his life.
To say he was an activist is to understate what John did because of his beliefs in his god, and what was right to do in life. I will miss him. He touched my life with a positive and loving grace.
My condolences, and strength to all of you.

How does one remember such a good, kind person of God? What words can one use that even touch the breath, scope and down good gracefulness of my friend, John Honeck. The truth is, at this time, there are no audible words I can bring forth. Who John was for me lies deep within my heart, yet to be recalled. I first met him in 1997 at a retreat Dan Berrigan was giving at Pyramid Life Center in the Adirondacks. It was on that retreat that St. Benedict Catholic Worker was born. He was so excited about it. Over the years we kept in touch. When John's family needed support while he was doing time for one of his actions, I took up a collection at Mass at Loyola University New Orleans, where I was going to Grad School at the time. I felt it a privilege to know John and support his faith driven passion for peace and justice. The world has lost the physical presence of a faith filled and deeply good man. But as a believer, like John, I know that I will see John again in every action for peace and justice in my own life that his proding from heaven will encourage me to do. John has gone ahead of me on the journey home to God. Someday, I will catch up with him. Meanwhile, our friendship remains--me always catching up to John and what the Spirit of God whispered in his ear to be and do. John Honeck, Presente!
