Obituary of Avis R. Porter

Avis R. Porter (Rayburn) Kendall: Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2021 at the age of 93. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Porter and her siblings, Phyllis Rayburn Zorn and Donald Rayburn. She is survived by her loving daughters, Pamela (James) Thompson and Roxanne (Edward) Holdgate; her grandchildren, Edward, Matthew, Gwendolyn, Patrick, Jamie and Theodore; great-grandchildren Melody, Chloe, Eddie, Lincoln, and Nicolás; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, and her beloved companion Paws. Avis was a Jr. High Librarian for over 20 years with the Spencerport Central School District. She was a devoted lifetime member of the Kendall United Methodist Church. She frequented T.O.P.S. for over 20 years where she made many friends. She enjoyed yearly visits to Wolfe Lake in Canada which she began with her husband in 1955. She was a much loved mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished by friends and family alike. Family will receive friends for calling hours at Fowler Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 3 – 6 PM where masks are required and social distancing protocols will be followed. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Kendall United Methodist Church, 1808 Kendall Rd., Kendall, NY 14476 in Avis’ memory.
