We will all so miss Kitty's ready smile, quick humor and infectious laugh. During one of our last visits she shared that she had made a sampler of the St. Francis of Assisi prayer. The last line of that prayer is "..and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life." Thanks be to God.

You were my dearest friend when we were girls. I missed the in-between years, but treasure the time we have had to revisit that friendship. Once again I have admired your loyalty, humor, intelligence, and capacity for love. And now I am in awe of your courage. How can anyone so gentle have been so brave? I am blessed to have known you.

Kitty, as a toddler, was the runningest child I ever saw, laughing exuberance and bouncey golden curls. As a teenager, she shared her bedroom with me when I moved to New York, unfailingly companionable, meditative, generous and so alert to everything around her. In her womanhood, she grew to be as quick-witted and warm-hearted as her father and as enthusiastic and determined as her mother. She offered to be the sister I had always wanted and I accepted...always. She and my mom were good buddies; they spent hours together poring over the ancient family lore and storytelling, and laughing and topping each other's Final Word. Her loyalty was unshakeable: family, husband, children, friends, athletic teams..we all received everything she had to give. The day after her wedding, a tribal festival if there ever was one, we all gathered for a family picnic; I couldn't figure out why I was so restless and not-quite-satisfied. Suddenly, I said out loud, I miss Kitty, Kitty's not here. Silly me...she and Bill have begun their life together. And, so again. Memories of good fun and giddiness and a new life starts.
Thank you, Bill, for keeping us in real-time communication. It's a gift. Love, Barbie

My Dearest Mother,
I will miss you till my last day on earth. You were my best friend and so much more. I don't know how life will ever be the same without you. Your absence in my life is the hardest thing I have ever faced. I will never forget you and will remind Brendan and Kaitlyn constantly about your love, kindeness and devotion to your family and friends, they will always know how much you loved them and how proud you were of them. You are truly a hard act to follow. I thank you for teaching me how to be such a wonderful mom and will keep you in my heart always. Dad and I will be strong together and will support each other during these very hard days. The Three Musketeers (Kitty, Bill and Meri) will live on forever!
I love you Mommy,
Meri

Kitty, Most of our memories together go back to family gatherings in Geneva or our Long Island homes. Kids running between adults, (Ladies with a whiskey sour and men with a scotch on the rocks in hand) us 'younger' kids wondering what you 'older' kids were up to. Still have the family reunion portraits to look back on fondly! Our lives moved on, distance grew along with us all. Sad it seems to have taken losing our parents to get in contact again. Have enjoyed our email chats and sharing of family lore. Thank you for making this effort in the throe of your own health struggles. Will miss you and your positive outlook to whatever arose the next day. My heart goes out to Bill, Meri, Wendy and Families. Love, Cousin Rich

Bill and Kitty have been the best neighbors you could ever ask for. All these years Kitty always had a smile and an encouraging word for us. She loved all the noise and commotion from our house of growing kids. Every time we talked she asked how each one was doing. We will miss our dear friend!

My deepest sympathy to the Henderson family. I will truly miss seeing Kitty come to the office (Metro Footcare) every couple of months. She is a true inspiration and always had a kind word to say to someone. I will never forget one time while she was waiting in our office, she was talking with a young man who was battling cancer and I sat and listened to her wonderful kind words she offered him. He passed away shortly thereafter but I could see that what she told him "lifted" him. My last memory of Kitty was when she and Bill came to her last appointment. They shared with me how long ago they had met and married. You could just see the love, admiration and respect each had for the other. Kitty, it was an honor knowing you, may God bless you and your family.
