John "Jack" Obert Baker Jr. went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at 75 years of age. A former resident of Hilton, Albion, and Hamlin, Jack passed at Aurora House Hospice Care in Spencerport after a long journey with cancer. He was born on July 25, 1944 in Indiana, PA, the youngest of six children born to John Obert and Helen Virginia (Adams) Baker. He married the love of his life, Marylin Louise Wissinger, on May 24, 1963, and moved to the Rochester area in 1964. Jack started his career as a machinist, later becoming a purchasing manager and production planner for Eastman Kodak. Most significant to Jack was his deep involvement in local faith communities. These included: Grace Baptist Church (Brockport), Victory Baptist Church (Albion), First Baptist Church (Holley), and Emmanuel Baptist Church (Hamlin). In retirement, he and Marylin served with SOWER Ministries. They were also active at Lighthouse Christian Camp in Barker, NY, where Jack was at times the buildings and grounds manager, camp treasurer and camp board member. The "Baker Cottage" was recently dedicated at the camp in recognition for Jack's years of faithful service. Jack is survived by: Marylin, his wife of fifty-six years; son John (Brenda) Baker III of Spencerport, NY, their four children (John (Hayley) IV, Anna, Elyse, and William Baker) and three grandchildren (John V, Rowyn, and Genesis Baker); also daughter Lisa (Timothy) Smith, of Bloomsburg, PA, and their four children (Timothy II, Arianna, Josiah, and Gabrielle). Jack is also survived by his siblings: Keith (Patricia) of Niagara Falls, NY; Robert (Sandra) of Clarence Center, NY; Edward (Sharon) of Lockport, NY; Raymond (Charleen) of Hamlin, NY; and Kay Luksic of Hilton, NY; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Jack was preceded to his Lord by his parents, and by Jack and Marylin's youngest child, Joseph Michael, who passed in 1967 at the age of 3 months. Viewing will be held at Fowler Funeral Home, 340 West Ave, Brockport, NY on Friday, November 1st from 5 to 8 pm. A Funeral / Life Celebration Service, open to all friends and family, will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 5220 Lake Road South on Saturday, November 2nd, at 10:30 am.
