I am blessed to have been a colleague of Ed's over the years. He was a friend, a guide, and a wonderful role model, in addition to being a colleague. I will miss the uniqueness of his presence -- his humor, wisdom, and openness -- made it always special to be with him. Ed treated everyone with respect and acceptance. I am so grateful that I was able to purchase some of his beautiful wood turnings as they will be always bring a smile and strong memories of this wonderful man. My sincerest sympathies to Mark and Theresa and their families.

My first encounter with Ed was seeing him come down the hall in Albert Brown hall with his bike helmet on, that mischievous smile, and that almost-bowlegged walk. He liked to pedal on over for periodic visits, and that always made for a great day.
When I got to know him and Johnnie more, I was always struck by how attuned they were to one another. If one was speaking, the other was rapt with attention, even if it was a comment or story that was probably uttered many times before. They were absolutely there for each other, and it's become a lesson for me in my life.

Ed & Johnnie meeting my son in February 2011. When Ed saw this photo he commented, "Johnnie looks right in her element. I look like I need to eat less."

Dear Jeanne and family,
Our mutual friend, Charlie Fox, told me of your Dad's passing. Just wanted to
extend my sympathy to you. His obituary was impressive and told of a very wonderful man. A Father is a special blessing and we both lucked out in that category. Sending you fond and prayerful thoughts.
Your former Jury Duty Friend,
Peg Tanke

My deepest sympathy to Ed's family and friends.
For many years Ed would visit my office in the Faculty Office Building, now the A. W. Brown Building, with Danny in tow. He would bring her to my office for some candy
from my candy dish. Through the years he always kept me up to date on Danielle's accomplishments. Ed and I had many long discussions about teaching, one of his great loves. After he retired, it was always a treat to see him in the Village or at a function at the College. Part of the conversation always included an up date on Danielle. Ed was a gentle and wise man and I will miss our conversations.

Dear Ed's family and friends,
I enjoyed so much the time I worked and spent with Ed. Such an intelligent and caring man. When I took him to church it was God's way of getting me in church! I enjoyed the time there with Ed and all of the wonderful parishioners who welcomed me into their church as a visitor. Ed loved his wife Johnnie sooooooooooo much! He missed her and regaled to me their wonderful life together. I remember our trip to Genesee Country Village and Museum nd the great time we had. Loved the church on the grounds. Ed I hope to someday read your book. How happy you must be in heaven with your beautiful Johnnie!Godspeed and love to your family; especially to dear Danielle!
