Eric Charles Cole
Stafford County, VA - Eric Charles Cole, 58, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Eric was born in Rochester, NY where he graduated from Brockport High School, Monroe Community College and Roberts Wesleyan College. He later moved to Stafford in 1990. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, later continuing his career with the Federal Government as a civilian for 28 years in the DC area. Eric was a survivor of the 9/11 attacks on the Pentagon and aided in its reconstruction. He was a devout Roman Catholic who had been an active member and Eucharistic Minister for St. William of York Catholic Church in Stafford, VA for 28 years. Eric played semi-pro football from 1980-2015 where he played for teams such as the Washington Stars, the Prince William Monarchs and the Montgomery County Rams. He was a professor of logic and sociology at Strayer University and had a great passion for teaching. He will be greatly missed by many people. From his iconic mannerisms to his booming deep voice, Eric was a great humble man who served his church, his country, and his community until the end. Eric was an amazing son, brother, father and beloved by many co-workers and friends throughout his life.
Survivors include his sons, Philip C. Cole and Andrew J. Cole; mother Carol Cole; and two brothers, Doug Cole (Ann) and Brian Cole.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 18 at Fowler Funeral Home Inc.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
