I first met Jack and Chris and Norma as a camper at camp Wangum and then as a councilor. Jack was a remarkable role model for me long after I left Camp life as I began to study medicne and neuroscience. He was a mentor and a friend - even to someone so junior (at the time). I have thoght about Jack and the entire Wangum family often . Jack's talents were remarkable. they influenced my career in research and administration and he remains in my thoghts to this day.

Hello. My name is Frank Hill, Class of 1967 BHS. My condolences go to the Mazzarella family on your recent loss. When I was in Jr. High School, I had Mr. Mazzarella as both a home room teacher and as a teacher. He was really a nice teacher that I enjoyed being a pupil of. I remember that he invited me personally out to Ledgedale Airport when he first built it on Colby Street. I will keep him in my prayers.

I am very saddened to learn of the community and his family losing this amazing man. I had gotten to know him through his grand-daughter Jill, one of my all-time favorite students, and came to realize what a pillar of the community he has been and what a big heart he had. He's truly the kind of person who makes a community, a community.

Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Your dad was such an inspiration to all who were taught by him...an icon to all who looked up to him for guidance, and a leader of a community which didn't even know it was being lead by his example of "community involvement". He cherished his children when they were young and growing, standing behind them in band boosters and chaperoning trips...to becoming a hands-on great-grandfather. Your family is truly blessed to have been given this loving man for so many years. I share your grief, but try to remember this: "he's not really gone...he's just not here right now". ❤❤

Sending prayers for all of you. Some of my fondest childhood memories are from the Ledgedale Airport. Many weekend and summer mornings were spent there with my Dad and Mr. Mazzarella. They would talk and work on some project and I would wander around and look at the wide variety of tools, go have a pop from a glass bottle at the clubhouse (had to return the empties to the case!) or play with a litter of puppies some stray was raising in the nice dog house Mr. Mazzarella built. It was a really good day if it was a "Fly in Breakfast" and Mr. Mazzarella was cooking pancakes and sausage! What a wonderful contribution the Mazzarella family have always made to the Brockport community. Thank you. May God keep you close in His loving care.

I am heartbroken. Jack was one of the finest men I've known. He was a student of my father's at College at Brockport, and as such spent many wonderful hours at our house. I still remember the laughter and silliness. He and his wife spent many hours babysitting me, caring for our homestead when my dad (and our whole family) took sabbaticals, and forever after stayed good friends with my family. Many times later in my life, when I returned home and visited the Morgan-Manning House, I would see and give warm and loving hugs to Jack and Chrisie. A more kind, compassionate, ethical, and generous-with-his-many-talents man I have never met besides my father. My deepest condolences to Chrisie, and their children and grandchildren. May Jack enjoy an eternity in peace and joy.

My sincere sympathy to you all. Mr. Mazzarella was an amazing man! He is an example of true kindness and generousity. I will always remember the time he took my son and I for a ride in his air plane. It was for a Boy Scout badge my son's Troop was working on and we had arrived late. Everyone had already left. I felt so awful. He looked at me, smiled and holds his hand out to my son saying: " they call me Jack. What's your name? Are you ready for your private lesson? Mom can come along too if she'd like!" Well the excitement on my son face and mine too, was priceless! What a wonderful experience it was that day and we will never forget it! Jack even went out of his way to ensure my son received his credit towards the badge! God's Love, Joy and Peace to you!❤

To Jack's loving family and friends,
I knew Jack because he also was a volunteer at the Lakeside Beikirch Care Center. Before today, I never knew how large the list of his accomplishments were; I just knew that he was a caring and helpful person to all of us at the nursing home.We were always so happy to see Jack! His efforts, enthusiasm and smile shined brightly as well as his knowledge.Although we were sad to have him move to Strong West to volunteer, we knew that he would continue to be an example of a stellar and community-centered spirit. His retirement didnt mean that he would stop working-but that he would continue to do the Lord's work every day.
Thank you Jack. You have touched so many lives of family and friends. May your example inspire others to follow your path through volunteering and lending a hand to others. You will not be forgotten and blessed so many with your heart and talents.
Love and Godspeed my friend.
