My boss. My friend. My confidant. My teacher. A 36 year partnership...two Italians. I was the envy of many secretaries at SUNYB. You were the most generous boss...never forgetting Secretary's Day, my birthday or Christmas. I will cherish every memory...the good and the bad. RIP RVM. ILU Phyllis "IBW"

Doc. was a true gentleman. His lessons stretched far beyond the classroom. He not only taught me Physics, but also how to think. My children still remember meeting him. He treated them as he treated everyone, with respect and his full attention. My main regret is that I allowed myself to lose contact with him after graduation. On a lighter note, the grade on one of my Physics homework assignments was a simple "Nope." My families thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Sincerely,
Al Cheverie

John Baynes posted a condolence
My dad, John A. Baynes, was a teacher and coach in East Rochester and spoke with such pride of all that Dick accomplished in his life. Dick's brother David is a special friend of mine and was of my father's. Now I'm learning that my outstanding colleague in the Fairport schools, Jennifer, is Dick's daughter in law. These are the ways that Richard Mancuso connects to my life and I'm certain they pale in comparison to the way he has touched his students and all who were close to him.
God Bless the Mancuso family,
John B. Baynes

My sympathies for your loss. Doc was one of my favorite professors of all time. His energy, commitment, sense of humor and expectations for his students made me a better student of physics. He never gave up on us. My children and neighbors' kids enjoyed his Physics of Toys demonstrations, and I always felt for Donna, because it seemed he would grab her unawares to demo the Phyics of Ball Room dancing on a whim. He will be missed and appreciated for all he did and what he stood for; and that was to make sure his students succeeded.

There isn't enough room to write all the words to explain how much Doc meant to us. Doc had such an influence on so many lives, ours is no exception. Tom and I met at SUNY Brockport and enjoyed Docs enthusiastic teaching style of Physics. We have countless memories of our time in Smith Hall. Our three children thought it was really cool when they ate a spaghetti dinner cooked in the lab. We hold the memories of Doc so dear to our hearts. Love & prayers Donna & family.

Dr. Mancuso was the best physics professor, always trying to find a better way to keep us involved.
He made a difficult subject much more enjoyable.
I am glad that I had a chance to study in his class.

Doc was my professor in physics back in 1993. I remember his passion for science and his love for golf. My time in his class was tough but he always believed in me and all students that entered his room. His ability to challenge me beyond what I thought I was capable of accomplishing has helped shape me into the person I am today. He didn't just teach me physics, he also taught me to believe in myself. Doc will be forever missed.

Thanks to Dick (aka "Doc"), it was he who brought my attention to Brockport and the study of Physics, had me assist in his (and Dr. Schlect's) roadshow, and invited me to join the Men's Club at Churchville.
I love you, and you will be sorely missed.

Sorry for the late response.
My condolences to the family, I heard about Dick's passing from the Brockport newsletter e-mailed to me.
I had him for 3 semesters of Physics back in the mid 70s
and still remember his great demos and passion for the subject.
I ended up getting a major in Comp Sci and minor in physics. I never forgot the great classes we had with him.

I realize this is many years late, but I am a 2001 SUNY Brockport graduate. My son is now going off to college and I was telling him about Dr Mancuso’s influence on my academic career, which prompted me to Google him. I am so sorry to hear he has passed. He was very influential in my academic pursuits. He made a significant difference in the life of his students and will be remembered as a great man.
