Uncle Carl had such an impact on us as children. We loved spending time at Camp Epworth and especially Camp Quinipet. I will miss his yearly Christmas greetings. May God Bless and comfort you, Dawn, Scott, Robyn.

Carl was a real inspiration to me of the simplicity of accepting God's blessings, enjoying the goodness He bestows upon his children, and being present in the moment. He will always be loved. May our Heavenly Father comfort you in this time of loss.

Carl and I co-counseled in the 1970's at Camp Epworth and Quinipet and then became program directors and eventually site directors as the years went by. He was always my friend and mentor, supporter and fun-loving organizer of playful times. We kept in touch through the years at National UM Camp Leaders Gatherings, and we remembered him this past week at the one held in Texas this year. We shared Christmas greetings and annual reports of health and struggles in the more recent years. His positive spirit always shined through. He was so proud of his children! He loved his brother! May his gifts in your life sustain you always. Peace and love, Lisa Jean

I too worked with Carl in the late seventies, early eighties. Though I was at High Falls, NY..I was happy, when the nurse at Quinipet and I switch camps, sensible, since I lived on L.I. Quinipet was a place where one could feel the presence of God. Daily the young adults would come silently and sit together to watch the sun set. Carl always came in last. I would see him surveying the group wth his eyes, like a shepherd making sure all the sheep are in..the mood was always spiritual..with some humming a song and the air becoming cooler as dusk set it. And the silence was broken the same way each time. The sun hit the horizon and everyone jumps up yelling, "He did it again," "did you see it!" And we all applauded at the magic of Gods mystery..and Carl would say " that's what it's all about" ..are you coming again? he would ask the campers on the walk back..and we would laugh at those whose faces were so happy..as many of these children, never saw a sunset, " ok" said Carl, and he would look at his watch.."Let's do it again tomorrow",,and love and peace would return to Quinipet.awaiting a new day. This is the Carl I always remember,

Carl was my boss, friend, and mentor at Camp Manidokan during a really difficult adolescence and young adulthood. He played a major role in my spiritual development and grieving the death of my mother. My heart hurts with yours. Know that his legacy reaches farther than you know. Peace to you all.

Letter to My Family
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say... but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there are no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
Then God gave me a list of things he wished for me to do And foremost on that list of mine, is to watch and care for you And I will be beside you, every day, week and year And when you’re sad, I’m standing there to wipe away the tear. And when you lie in bed at night, the day’s chores put to flight God and I are closest to you…in the middle of the night
When you think of my life on Earth, and all those loving years Because you’re only human, they are bound to bring you tears But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
When you are walking down the street, and you got me on your mind I’m walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind And when you feel the gentle breeze or the wind upon your face That’s me giving you a great big hug, or just a soft loving embrace
I will always love you, from the land above We will be in touch soon, GOD sends His love
