Obituary of Eleanor M. Knapp

Eleanor Minnie (Nelson) Knapp, 93, of Brockport New York, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014, at the NHC Place in Franklin Tennessee. She was born July 1, 1920, in Brockport NY, the daughter of Guy C. and Bertha May (Clark) Nelson. On April 4, 1942 she wed Brockport High School classmate, Charles Webster Knapp. Together they spent the next 61 years raising a family and enjoying life.
Eleanor spent over 20 years as a Dietitian with the Brockport Central School system, retiring in 1975. The next year she and Chuck moved to Sun City Center FL where he passed away in 1994.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards, doing Word Search, and visiting with family and friends. She loved knitting Christmas stockings and created over 60 for her family and many friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; parents, Guy and Bertha; sister, Clara Louise (Antony) Saunders, and daughter, Sharon Lee (Jerry) Nesbitt.
She is survived by her son, Charles Nelson (Glenna) Knapp, of Prattville AL.; four grandchildren, Kim Nesbitt, of Brockport NY, Kelly (David) Lature, of Franklin TN, Jami (Tim) Stofka, of Brentwood TN, and Charles (Julie) Knapp, of Wetumka AL; 7 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Nicholas (Lindsey) Gordon, Kendall, Riley and Jackson Stofka, and Austin and Cooper Knapp; her lifelong friend and first cousin Jean (Wayne) Moore, several nieces and nephews as well as many lifelong friends.
A memorial service will be announced and held on at a later date. The family wishes to thank the National Health Care Center in Franklin TN for the excellent care provided for Eleanor.
