My sincere sympathy to Jerry's family at this difficult time. The passing of this fine gentleman and longtime friend of all of us in the fire service closes the final chapter on a wonderful life. I could write a book about Jerry, mostly fire related of course. I can still hear his distinct voice as he would arrive at our vintage fire truck musters wearing his big trademark cowboy hat, rolling up his sleeves ready to help do whatever needed to be done.
During the heyday of our SPAAMFAA gatherings he was always a leader, getting the job accomplished right. He and I would joke how he once conducted our club fund raiser by telling all to guess where he had buried the cash prize. "Where's the money buried" I'd call to him for years after and he'd nearly fall down laughing. Another WW-II vet, a greatest generation hero, has left us. From time-to-time I'd get him to tell a real "war story" along with tales of "the big one" that burned half a century ago. What a guy! His heart was filled with love for his family and his beloved Capen Hose Company. Jerry Remington accomplished more in his lifetime than several men combined. I am so grateful to have had him be part of my life and shall forever boast of my old friend from Brockport. He encouraged me to run my old open cab NGFD Seagrave in the rain, and actually dig here and there with a shovel looking for "the money."
I shall remember Jerry Remington for many things, but especially for his sincere friendship. Rest easy my friend with the cowboy hat and constant smile.

Gramps had an electrifying personality, the greatest bear hugs, with an endless smile of sunshine every time we visited. I learned so much more from him telling stories about the war than ever possible in school. May your big smiles be the sun shining over us, the wind be your hugs and kisses and the stars be the twinkle of your eyes. We love and mines you dearly.

You were a great father in law and I will treasure the sparse times we shared together, living on separate coasts. But most of all I will always remember your gigantic smile and strong bear hugs! Love Ya Lots, Miss Ya More Vicki

The pain of losing someone as important as a father can be overwhelming; I too know that pain. May your family find comfort as I have in knowing that our loving heavenly Father promises us that very soon he will 'swallow up death forever, and certainly wipe the tears from all faces.' (Isaiah 25:8) What a wonderful day that will be!
