She and her family lived all over the state until her marriage to Lester Grant Miller Jr. on January 8, 1952. Upon Staff Sgt. Miller’s almost immediate deployment to Korea, Mary was dispatched to Sibley, Iowa to live with her husband’s parents where she was embraced like a daughter and “learned how to cook”. Even being exposed to several Midwestern winters did nothing to deter her from moving to Rochester as her husband began his career with Kodak. Fiercely intelligent, Mary had many varied interests. She was the anchor of her bowling team; very active in the Hamlin Republican political scene; a private airplane pilot; an avid reader; ran a poultry farm; volunteered at Lakeside Hospital; was a sales consultant in reference to computing needs; was an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Brockport and eventually learned to drive a stick shift.
Beloved friend and mother, she will be sorely missed.
