Obituary of Ellen Louise Guntrum
Ellen Louise Guntrum passed away peacefully on August 31, 2022 at the age of 97 in Brockport, NY. She was born in Rimersburg, PA on February 1, 1925. She attended Union High School and played basketball on one of the first Women’s Basketball Teams. She relocated many times with her husband Neal and family while he was employed at Owens Illinois Glass Company. She was active in many volunteer organizations in several communities during her lifetime. Ellen was a strong advocate for inclusiveness of the physically and mentally challenged individuals. She was one of the original founding community members of Lifetime Assistance in Brockport, NY and a member of the Mother’s Club of Chemung County ARC.
She was predeceased by her husband Neal R. Guntrum, her daughter Myra Ellen Guntrum, her Son-in-Law James H. Stull, and her siblings Emily Henry and Marvin Buzard.
She is survived by her daughter Neala Rae Guntrum Stull; Granddaughters Susan Ferris and Michelle (Paul) Kemblowski; 7 Great-Grandchildren Bethany Falsion, Julian Ferris, Olivia Ferris, Maria Ferris, Anthony Ferris, Henry Kemblowski, Maxine Kemblowski; several nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her great smile, her sense of humor, her skilled homemaking, and her love for her family and the Lord.
There will be no prior calling. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience.
