Steven and his family have been frequent guests at the restaurant where I’ve worked for a decade, Grandpa Sam’s. I didn’t know Steven very well, just as a friendly face I was always excited to see walk through the door. Over the years Steven and his family became my favorite customers, sharing our love of dogs, specifically our beloved Australian Shepherds. To the Reber family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Steven’s kindness and warmth was felt by even those you maybe didn’t even realize. He will be so missed. Love always, Kelli

Kirk, my big brother always gave unique gifts growing up. These homemade gifts were never planned out weeks in advance, so it wasn’t a surprise when we found him early one white Christmas morning outside making last minute snow candles. He would pack the snow just so, pour the melted wax, then finish off his creation with a wick tied to a stick. Few gifts I recall from childhood, though I will forever fondly remember the warm candle Kirk placed in my hands as he said, “Merry Christmas, Michele.”

This is the last photo that I took of my brother-in-law Kirk, at a family gathering out at the Reber homestead in Bergen last fall. Some of the guys were admiring Kirk’s impressive dirt bike, one of his latest projects. I have reminisced fondly this week about my relationship with Kirk as I perused photo albums documenting my history with the Rebers through the 45 years I have been part of the story. I will miss his humor, his observations about life, and his kindnesses and many helps through the years to me and our family. Many tales will be shared as we remember and honor Kirk in the oncoming days and months. But it is the story of what is yet to come that is the completion of all our stories, as we who trust all things to our merciful God anticipate the glorious beginning of our next and eternal lives together. I imagine that when Jesus received Kirk, similar thoughts to these were his: “I have come home at last! This is my real country! I belong here. This is the land I have been looking for all my life, though I never knew it till now.” (From the Narnia stories, C. S. Lewis)

We were overwhelmingly sad to hear of Mr. Reber's passing. He made the best waffles when Allison stayed overnight with one of her besties, Lydia, his daughter. We grieve with the family and send our sincerest condolences for this great loss. He clearly lived a godly life with all of his heart.
Much love and prayers are being sent from the Panzica Family in Chester, VA.

When my brother Kirk was a young kid troll figures were very popular. They had crazy long cotton-like hair, funny little bodies and bulging glass eyes and we all had one. Kirk could always manage to outdo us girls in creating funky hairstyles or unique homemade clothes and furniture for their shoebox houses. Being mixed in with three sisters, this showed how clever, creative and competitive he was in a fun way! (I just bought a troll at an antique store in his honor.) I’ll cherish this memory always and my love for Kirk.

Kirk at the very least taught me how to sharpen a chainsaw chain. We share the love of motorcycles. He also inspired me to be more thoughtful and a better listener. Forever grateful to have know Kirk.

Kirk was my brother in law. I think my most cherished time with Kirk was when we went bear hunting in Quebec with Mel Reber and Al Pogue. All four of us drove up and back in the cab of a single cab pickup truck. Needless to say, we got to know each other pretty well! That week was full of great memories of hunting, fishing, hiking, joking and laughing. Something that I can still hear is Kirk's laugh. He loved to laugh and joke. I will keep those memories with me always.
