What a blessing to have known Joe as a friend and hunting buddy. Many a cold, frosty morning we would head to our hunting stands in the pre-dawn darkness. We would remain there until boredom, coldness, success, or hunger would lead us to the local diner. While there, we would listen to all the deer stories and enjoy breakfast before heading back out again.
I always appreciated Joe's wisdom and insight on a whole host of issues and will always treasure the times we spent together.
In loving memory,
Chuck Bender

Uncle Joe was my last Uncle here on earth. Now he's with his sis and his brother. I never got to spend a lot of time with them. But I'm ever so grateful how he and Aunt Judy took care of my mom her last days. I will miss him like I miss them all.

They say when you are gone, what matters is "What's Between the Dash"
I truly believe if you knew Uncle Joe you knew what was between his dash, love of our Lord and Savior, love of his family, friends and strangers.
His gentle spirit was so special it exuded without a word.
You felt love when you were near.
I will take with me forever him setting on the front porch in the white rocking chair drinking coffee when at our home in WV. He would walk in the house, look around at the chaos of six little cousins all playing, Judy and Mom trying to wrangle them to the kitchen table, and he would look around the room, pour another cup, shake his head and escape to his own little piece of world known as the front porch.
I would leave for work and return and he would still be in the rocking chair. Rain, heat, snow, I knew where to find him and I knew there was a pot of coffee on.
It's funny how in a time of sorrow, little memories are such a comfort. But when someone becomes a memory, that becomes a treasure.
I hope he knew how much I loved him.
I will forever thank the Lord for granting me an uncle like Uncle Joe. I am sure he is updating everyone gone before and I would not be the least bit surprised to see him and daddy bent over a vehicle tinkering away.
Uncle Joe, rest in the arms of our Savior, you were a good and faithful servant! I love you!

We have fun memories of watching our daughter, Rachel and Joe and Judy’s granddaughter playing basketball together. They loved us like family and that’s a special gift. They both had the kindest hearts. Much love, Judy and family.

Uncle Joe was, is and will always be a man to look up to. I loved every conversation I ever had with him! He loved our children like they were his own grand children never missed a birthday party we invited them to, in our conversations he always asked me how I was doing, how being a father was, if I was taking good care of his niece and then would follow up by saying "I know you are, your a good man". That meant the world to me. Uncle Joe we will miss you, thank you for leading by example. Aunt Judy we love you, and are always here if you need anything!

Godspeed “Wade” family… Joe’s trials and tribulations are behind him and he is at peace and comfort with family that have predeceased him. And, most likely, bragging about his beautiful family and life on Earth.
Our deepest sorrows… Phyllis and Ken
