Obituary of Arthur E. Smith Jr.
Arthur E. Smith Jr.
Brockport: Passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 16, 2021. Predeceased by his wife Celine (Langer). He is survived by his sister Patricia Sepanik, children, H. Emily Russell (Timothy), Arthur (Ted) (Eileen) Smith, 4 grandchildren, Samantha Reynolds, Leeah Burrage, Connor & Rowan Smith & 4 great grandchildren. His greatest success was his dedication to his work, his 34 years of teaching as a professor at SUNY Brockport, where he taught many students in their early years of becoming teachers. Children were always a joy to him and to see them flourish made him smile most. Arthur had a passion for the outdoors spending free time hiking, birding, canoeing and enjoying all the Adirondak mountains and other wordly parks could offer him. He also enjoyed traveling, that included much of the United States as well as many parts of the world. He was fortunate to have lived in or visited countries such as Brazil, many European countries as well as South and Central America. He always came home a richer man with the wealth of knowledge he had gained both culturally and socially, he never returned home without a new friend! His 34 years of teaching at SUNY Brockport brought him much joy & his many decades dedicated to social & educational programs such as Literacy Volunteers, SUNY Summer Reading Program, Amnesty International & Special Education Abroad (Ireland) only added to his fulfillment.
