Obituary of Neil W. Newman

Neil W. Newman

Hamlin:    Born August 29, 1936 in Hamlin, NY. Passed away July 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife of 64 years, Sugar and his children and grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Carl and Marion Newman, sister Neva (Roz) Wing, brother Richard (Jeanne) Newman. Survived by his loving wife, Sugar, children – Laurie (John) Streb, Mitch (Laurie Ann) Newman, Greg Newman, Jill (VJ) Scharping, Wendy (Jerry) Bishop. Grandchildren – Erin, Travis, Makenzie, Ryan (Georgie) Corbett, Greats – River and Hunter, Grands – Tessa, Jason, Chelsey, Greats – Blake and Vera, Grand – Mackenzie, Great – Finnie, Grands – Paige and Riley Newman, Grands – Kelly (Seth) MacIntyre, Greats – Tyler, Nathan, and Andrew, Grands – Vernon “Jamie” (Andrea) Scharping, Greats – Quinn, Beckett and Parker, Grand – Jailyn Bishop, several nieces and nephews. Neil will be sadly missed by Sheila Matthews, Dave, Casie and Maddie Brower, caregiver Angels, Kelly, Stacy and Melissa, his afternoon beer buddies – Mud and Mike, and his many friends.

Neil was a Plumbing and Heating contractor in the Brockport Hamlin area for over 50 years. He was active in his church, St. John Lutheran, a volunteer fireman in Hamlin, was a charter member and past president of the Hamlin Lions Club, a District Governor of Lions International 20E’1 and present member of the Brockport Lion’s Club.  He loved being a Lions and so proud that his daughter Laurie and grandchildren Erin, Jamie, and Kelly joined him in the Brockport Lions Club. He loved his family and in his later years was known as “POP” to the little ones who loved him.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 2 – 4PM and 6 – 8PM at Fowler Funeral Home, 340 West Ave., Brockport.

A memorial Service will be held at 2PM on Friday, July 23, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hamlin.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Aurora House, the Brockport Lions Club, the Hamlin Lions Club or St. John Lutheran Church in his memory.
