Obituary of Susan E. Edmunds

Susan E. Edmunds Brockport: Passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 2, 2020 at the age of 88. Predeceased by her parents James M. and Olive Edmunds. She is survived by her 2 brothers; James P. Edmunds of Altamonte Springs, FL and Paul M. Edmunds of Penfield, NY and special friends Cathy and Doug Chesnut. Susan was a Graduate of University of Washington, Seattle, with a B.A. in Music and Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY with a M.S. in Music Education. She was a Vocal Music Teacher with Enumclaw Jr./Sr. High School, Enumclaw, Washington for 3 years, Brockport Jr./Sr. High School, Brockport, NY as a substitute for 1 year, Churchville, NY Jr./Sr. High School for 4 years and Central Square, NY Jr./Sr. High School for 1 year. Susan was an Associate Professor SUNY Brockport Department of Music from 1967-1983 and served as Chairman of the Department from 1976-1983. She was also an Administrative Assistant for Lifetime Assistance Inc., in Brockport, NY from 1984-1989, the Choir Director for churches in Enumclaw, Washington and Brockport, NY, a volunteer at Seymour Library for over 10 years and Chairman of the Arts Committee of the 1979 Special Olympics, Brockport, NY. Susan was baptized Episcopalian but has attended the First Baptist Church, Brockport, for over 30 years. She served on the Boards of Morgan Manning House and Lifetime Assistance Inc. 1979 – 1983. Was a member of the friends of Seymour Library and a huge supporter of the Greater Brockport Area Historical Preservation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Contributions to the Brockport Food Shelf are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
