John Laack MacVean, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2020. John was born on March 31, 1959 to Robert and Wanda MacVean and lived in the Brockport area his entire life, graduating from Brockport High School and SUNY Brockport. He was a commercial and residential painter who was always available to lend a helping hand or opinion, to many in the community. John coached various sports teams in Brockport for many years and loved attending football and basketball games with his friends. John’s greatest joy was his son Noah. His true passions were golf and fishing. He enjoyed poker nights with the guys, the Great 8 golf trips and trivia nights around town. He was an avid Chicago Bears and NY Mets fan. John is survived by his son Noah, sisters Abby (Ray) DelaMotte, Martha (Hubert) Pinto, brother Bob MacVean, cousin Toby (Barb) Unger, nephew Adam (Victoria) DelaMotte and great nephew Joseph Cunningham. He was predeceased by nephews Alexander DelaMotte, Seth Cunningham, his parents and grandparents William and Madelyn Laack. Contributions in John’s memory may be made to the Brockport Basketball Boosters, 40 Allen Street, Brockport, NY 14420 c/o Athletic Department or charity of your choice. Due to Covid-19, a celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. Internment at Mt. Rest Cemetery, Bergen, NY.
