We will miss you so much. You have given us some wonderful memories. Way back... I had a wonderful time during the camping trip at the bicentennial year. More recent... our wonderful wedding cake that so many have raved about and copied! We always got a smile when we saw Uncle Eddie and Tante Tina in the German garb and dancing. We will smile when we think of you.

I remember the first time I met Uncle Eddie - I thought he was a teenager, but he was already a grown man...he was short in stature, but huge in heart. He made our wedding cake and countless kuchen for every family get together. He was always so much fun to be with. The last time I saw Uncle Eddie and Tante Tina it was at our winery. We had coffee and one of Uncle Eddie's (actually Tante Tina's kuchen) and we enjoyed wine and talked about years gone by. Even though Eddie wasn't really my uncle, he was my uncle in all sense of the word. We had left all of our behind in Germany and we adopted (he adopted us) him and we loved him as much as if he were my father's or mother's brother. He made me feel proud!

I was a recipient of the scholarship that he and Tina sponsored. I only had the opportunity to meet him once, but I instantly knew how great of a man he was. His generous donation and dedication to their scholarship fund was a huge help in discovering myself at school (SUNY Brockport) and getting my life started. For that I am very grateful and will always remember him, and how wonderful a person he was.

Dear Tina and Family: I was out of the country and regret that I was unable to attend the memorial service. On behalf of myself and the Federation of German-American Societies, please accept my deepest sympathies. I shall remember Eddie's ever-present smile, charm, and effervescence.
