Obituary of Donna E. Miller

Miller, Donna E. Brockport: Surrounded by her loving family, Donna, a retired substitute teacher for Brockport Central School District, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Donna lead a very active life in the Community. After the death of her husband, Edwin Miller, sixteen years ago, she established a bereavement support group for grieving widows. During the same period, Donna became an enthusiastic volunteer at The Hospice Center of St. Mary's Hospital and later transitioned to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center where she received the Volunteer of the Year award. Over the years, Donna impacted the lives of many people. She had a kind, generous heart and reached out in friendship to many, many people. Donna's greatest joy in life was her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Eddie, and her beloved, beautiful daughter Christine (Rob) Jaimerena. Most important she is survived by her devoted children, Shari (Herb) Lurie of California, Dan (Dee) Miller of Georgia, and Sandy (Bob) Raufeisen of Kent, NY. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, who brought her great joy and warmed her heart: Jake, Cory, and Brenna Miller, Emily, Robbie, Jordan and Kyle Jaimerena, and Tyler and Tory Raufeisen. Surviving as well, are brothers Richard (Carol) and Ed Pickering and sister Ellie Gillis and several nieces and nephews; Sisters-in-law Pat (Rick) Hamlin and Elsa Barber and their children. Donna will be will be sadly missed by everyone whose life she touched. Calling hours are Sunday May 16th from 3-6pm at Fowler Funeral Home, 340 West Ave Brockport. Service Monday 10am at The Church of the Nativity BVM, Main St. Brockport.
