I met Jim (and Sue) in 1981 when I joined the barbershop chorus. I sang more that a few tunes with Jim and always considered him a good friend. My thought and prayers go out to Sue and the family.

Mr. Savard was a wonderful teacher. I remember how he challenged us not just to know history, but to understand it. I also remember his delightful stories about growing up in Tupper Lake. I am so grateful to have been one of his students.

i was a young barbershopper about 30 years ago ... when i joined the Chorus of the Erie Canal, Jim (then a baritone) and i struck up a friendship almost immediately and we eventually sang in a quartet (my first) called "What Four?"
... although we didn't do very well in our first contest, Jim still kept that big smile on his face and kept on encouraging me to learn more about this hobby ... i never forgot that as i "kept on singing" and i never will ... thanks, Jim, for your kind words and friendship ...

To the Savard Family,
Many fond memories were made with you all, including camping, canoeing, snowmobiling and hanging out at the Savard homestead. When my parents told us we were going to visit the Savard's, my sister and I were always happy. One of my favorite memories of Mr.Savard was his telling me in no uncertain terms to "stop talking Jennie". I think I was about 2 and must have talked his ear off. You will be missed by all.
