Knight, Shirley (Steele)
Brockport: 8/12/1928-10/9/2012. Shirley (Steele) Knight was born on August 12, 1928 to Loren and Helen Steele of Garland, NY. She went to school in a one room schoolhouse in Garland and later graduated from Brockport High School in 1945. She graduated from RBI in 1946. Upon graduation, Shirlet began a secretarial career at Eastman Kodak Company and was employed there for ten years. One of the highlights during her career at Kodak occurred when she had the honor of being chosenas Kodak model of the month.
Shirley dedicated her life to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very compassionate and will always be remembered for her youthful outlook on life and her witty sense of humor. Until the last few years, she was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and served on the Altar Guild and Ecumenical Clothing Shelf.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Harold (Red) Knight; adoring children, Lauren (Walt) Miles, Greg (Wendy) Knight; grandchildren Joel (Stephanie), Jonathan, Daniel, Elizabeth and two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Alexandria. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean (Boris) Christ. She is survived by her sister, Nancy (Richard) Reynolds; brother-in-law, Jack (Liz) Knight; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 13, 1 PM, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. In memory of Shirley, for her tremendous love of animals, she has requested, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm or St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
