I'm the oldest cousin and remember Joe as a baby. He was called Buddy because his dad was Joe. He grew up to become a warm, caring person who opened his heart and home to everyone. His family and his friends were his life's blood. Joe's life touched so many people and they in turn continually came to support him during his illness. We can only hope to live by the example he set for us and always remember his warm heart and smile.

Mr. Pietrzak was hands down the BEST science teacher I have ever had. It's been a long time (22 years) but I remember everything about his class.....I loved how happy he always was...I remember how he used to skip through the classroom. I will never forget the day he dissected the shark for us. I remember the day he cooked seafood for us. That was the first time I ever had escargot!! Mr. Pietrzak...you were a blessing in my life...I will NEVER forget you! You were the epitome of what a teacher should be. God Bless You and your family. To Mr. Pietrzak's family...I am so sorry for your loss.

Joey you will always be remembered in my heart. You are a mans man great person to ALL. Always had a way to make everyone think that what someone thinks sucks, you could always turn it around to where it didn't look that bad. Will never forget your ability to play golf and not even concentrate but still pull off a good shot.

Mr.Pietrzak was my favorite teacher, ever. Science was never my "thing" but he made it so much fun, and it was so interesting, I couldn't help but love science that year! I will never forget "Chef Pietrzak Day" I hated seafood, and the smell of it, but he told me to try just a little, who knew I'd like fried calamari! And I remember his lesson on goosebumps, and somehow could give himself goosebumps at any given moment. He made things fun, he was a wonderful teacher, and he was someone that made such an impression on me, he was amazing, the kind of teacher I can only hope my children will have. He will never be forgotten. And to his family, my thoughts and prayers are with you, you are very blessed to have such a special person with such a love for life in your lives.

The first year Joe taught at Barker Central I was in his first period science class. Later that year we accidentally started a fire in the lab. Years later when I returned as a substitute teacher the kids asked me if I "was the Mr. Ray who started the fire in the lab". I guess we made quite an impression on a new teacher. :)
Joe has touched the lives of so many people and he will be missed.

I couldnt have been happier when I found out that Maura and Mr. Pietrzak were falling in love. As young people in the Brockport School District we knew what a great guy and teacher Mr. Pietrzak was to so many students. In addition I loved Maura so much through a friendship with Paul and we always wanted the best for her. A beautiful match eventually turned into many good times at the Pietrzak house and a an amazing blended family. My love goes out to Maura, the Fitzpatrick boys and Rachele, and of course Kevin who is a guy Im so happy I got to know better because of the partnership of Maura and Joe. I know you will share memories everyday.
Love, thoughts, and prayers-
Tracey Britton

I met Joe many years ago thru Dan & Pam Thomas and Phil Parshall. I served as Joe's unofficial tour guide on one of his visits to Washington, DC. He was so excited to see all the monuments and experience DC. We laughed a lot and I'll always remember his enthusiasm and interest in learning. He was indeed a special person and will indeed be missed by all whose lives he touched.

He was and is the greatest friend anyone could have. I was always amazed how Joe loved the little critters of nature. I can see him now lifting up a rock in a creek to behold crayfish scattering
